Recycling...thoughts about reincarnation
-
-
- In case I haven't mentioned it, I'm a skeptic about
anything I can't detect or identify with my five senses, and
sometimes I even doubt the evidence they provide. Why then am I so
interested in the paranormal? I've been trying to figure that out
most of my life, and have finally concluded the reason is that I
want to know, and hopefully have proven, that there is something
beyond our *normal* perception that would finally furnish us with
the answers to questions like,"Why am I here? What is my purpose?
Where do I go when I leave here, if anywhere?" and other random
musings. Like, is reincarnation an actuality, and if so, how can
it be so? And if we do reincarnate, how will we know we have?
Silly things like that.
-
- But what if it isn't silly at all? Knowing that everything
in the physical universe is somehow transmuted and
recycled--things may change, but are never lost--why shouldn't
this be true of the spiritual side of things as well? Skeptic or
not, I do believe in the soul, individual to each of us although
originating from one creative source, and I wonder. Does it retain
its individuality after departing from outworn earthly bonds? And
if it does, where then does it go, and what does it do? Questions,
questions!
-
- A possible answer, theorized across the centuries, is that
the soul "rests" for awhile, pondering its sojourn on Earth and
digesting the lessons it has learned during that time, then
chooses its next adventure into physical embodiment with a whole
new set of lessons. Hindu philosophy teaches that the soul must
progress upward in each successive embodiment, evolving to the
point where it has become purified enough to rejoin the Source;
but, as you might imagine, this could take a long time and many
lives.
-
- What about the accounts we read of people who remember some
of their past lives and offer seemingly irrefutable evidence of
the truth of them? Can we believe them? Or would we rather have an
experience of our own, something closer to home that might
convince us that we've done it before, so we can surely do it
again? Would it be nice to know that after we leave this life
we'll have a chance to try it again, with maybe a little more
insight? Sure it would.
-
- You could go for hypnotic regression. Seems to work for
some, but there's still no certainty that the subconscious isn't
just being creative so as to insure a good time is had by all.
-
- Now, look at what other readers have contributed about the
subject.
