Crockpot Steak and Onions
Cube steaks, 2 per person
Flour
Cooking oil
1 large onion, sliced
1 can beef broth
1 package brown gravy mix
Pepper to taste--you probably won't need salt.
Dredge meat in flour. In heavy skillet, heat
about 3 tbs oil and brown meat on both sides.
Transfer to crockpot, then add onions to remaining oil. You may need to add a little more oil.
Stir in brown gravy mix and cook until onions are tender
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly,
until mixture begins to thicken,
then slowly add and stir in beef broth.
Continue to cook until fully thickened. If mixture seems too thick, add
enough water to make a decent gravy.
Pour all into crockpot and cook on low for about 6 hours.
Mashed potatoes covered with the onion gravy goes great with this.
